In this project, my team and I were tasked with creating a millimeter wave scanner. This scanner was to be built onto a Voron 3D printer frame, with the scanner replacing the print head. We wrote up a design document and had to formulate a schedule, goals, and responsibilities for the project. We met weekly as a team and biweekly with our client. For this project, we had to build the millimeter wave scanner circuit board with soldering via a reflow oven. We had to then build the Voron printer frame from a kit provided by the client. After this we designed and created a housing for the circuit board to sit in and attach to the printer frame as well. Then we programmed a Raspberry Pi to send commands to the motors and scanner to perform scans for imaging. Finally, we programmed a web-based UI that would connect to the IP address of the device and give the user a friendly and easy to use interface for controlling the scanner. This project improved my ability to work and communicate with a team as well as learn and perform all the aspects of project planning and execution.
